We’ve all heard about those lucky people who win the lottery and wondered what we’d do if we were awarded the chance to spend those millions. Well in her new novel, Money Can’t Buy Love, bestselling author Connie Briscoe gives us a firsthand look into her main character’s (Lenora Stone) struggle with that very situation.

Lenora is a photographer who loves her job, loves her man and enjoys her life—for the most part. Despite her issues with her weight, her thoughts on her boyfriend’s intentions to finally tie the knot, and a boss who she considers evilshe figures she is living the life she was given, the best she can.

But everything changes when she meets a man whom she finds simply irresistible and she decides to finally check the numbers on the lottery ticket she had hanging around her condo. To her luck, she’s hit the lottery and is immediately unsure of what to do with the money. As the days passed, however, she becomes adapted to her new status as a rich woman and everything around her changes in a flash. Soon, just about every one of her relationships is challenged, and she is faced with decisions that will ultimately change her life.

The book moves a little slow at points and then speeds up, but it appropriately captures the dull moments in Lenora’s life and the whirlwind that comes once she wins the Maryland lottery. At certain moments in the novel, you find yourself “shouting at the movie screen,” or in other words, wanting to shake Lenora and tell her the error of her ways. Overall, Money Can’t Buy Love is a good read and will make you think about what you might do in the same position.
