No need to break out the dictionary either. Orman uses the simplest terms and language to explain even the most confusing subjects.
Girl, Get Your Money Straight! By Glinda Bridgforth
Using a holistic approach, Bridgforth talks specifically to African American women about managing every aspect of one’s finances. She even explains the cultural and historical beliefs of African Americans in regards to personal finance, and uses various tools like worksheets and writing exercises to help the black woman revive her relationship with her money. Get Yours! How to Have Everything You Ever Dreamed of and More by Amy DuBois Barnett
The title says it all. Barnett, a former journalist and motivational speaker, uses her own life experiences to explain how to obtain just about everything you want in life—from a lasting relationship to a better career and financial freedom. Although the personal finance selection is only a section of the book, it gives you the basic steps to get started and the encouragement to motivate you to do so.
