“I work with beasts that get a small amount of time to absorb a great deal of information,” he says. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with these people who I learn so much from. I always want to learn more, read more and get better every day. Inspiring people inspires me.”
That sense of leadership over his career is a quality the TV star says he hopes to see for his character as viewers anxiously await what’s to come in the next season.
“I’d love to see him [Blue] be a leader of the team and take on that role,” Jay adds. “I want to see Blue and Keira [Lauren London] get married, enjoy a honeymoon and just enjoy everyday life. Everyone needs love. Like Blue, I’m a good guy who wants love and who wants to be loved.”
The hopeless romantic –– who’s waiting for love, yet career-focused –– makes time to give back to the community as well. When he’s not on the acting field, he devotes his time to the non-profit Minds Matter, which prepares high school students for successful college careers. In addition, Jay works with Miracles for Kids, an organization that works to improve the quality of life for terminally ill children.
It would be an understatement to say the Air Force brat has learned to multitask. Between work (his starring role on The Game, a recurring role on Showtime’s Masters of Sex, his role in the upcoming film November Rule, among other projects), attending events and devoting time to philanthropies, when does he sleep? How does he maintain that toned physique? What about his social life? He makes the time for it – all of it, including the meticulous detail to his edgy, yet sophisticated looks that he admits to selecting himself. The fan of the European fit confessed he doesn’t have a stylist and doesn’t put too much thought into his looks. Yet, he executes it every time. When it comes to work/life balance, the athletic actor scores high, but acknowledges those who assist him stay ‘true blue’.
“I still have friends who keep me grounded and in check,” Jays says, with a chuckle.
