Chicago’s summer festival line-up would not be complete without the city’s annual Westside Music Festival, headlined by R&B group Bell Biv Devoe (BBD) and featuring soul crooner Case this year on Saturday, August 15 in Douglas Park. M Group Worldwide, Inc., Ald. Michael Scott (24th) and community organizations continue to work to perfect the craft of a free community festival that continues to promote and provide a balance of family and fun with live music for all ages. Musical guests past and present create nostalgic moments for festival supporters in the midst of a family environment.

“We’re trying to get the formula right,” Michelle Geddes says, founder/CEO of M Group Worldwide and co-producer of the Chicago Westside Music Festival. “It’s truly been a labor of love.”

This year’s activities, sponsored by BMO Harris Bank (presenting sponsor), will commence at noon with Ald. Scott’s first annual back to school festival, partnered with the Chicago Park District and Acts of Love. This festival will feature book bag giveaways, free book giveaways, games and more. The day will consist of raffles, dancing, performances from local artists and other activities that will lead up to the evening performances of Case and BBD. The festival will bring back the beverage garden, courtesy of MillerCoors.

“I forecast a sunny, pleasant, safe, fun and family-oriented time for all,” Michelle comments.

The festival continues to gain that momentum that the mission works to capture, which is to bring communities together and change the perception of the city one year at a time.
